The Coach You're Becoming

Jun 29, 2026

Hey coach,

I was reading Outwitting the Devil recently, and one idea jumped off the page.

Your results are usually a reflection of your habits.

Simple.

Not easy.

But simple.

Think about it.

If you're always stressed, there are probably habits creating that stress.

If you're constantly behind in recruiting, there are probably habits creating that result.

If you're always reacting instead of leading, there are probably habits putting you in that position.

The opposite is true too.

The coaches who seem organized aren't magically different.

The coaches who recruit consistently aren't lucky.

The coaches who keep getting better year after year didn't stumble into success.

They built habits that created those outcomes.

That's why I think many coaches ask the wrong question.

Instead of asking:

"How do I get better results?"

Ask:

"What habits would the coach I want to become have?"

Because your future is hiding inside your daily routine.

If you want a stronger culture, what habits would create it?

If you want better recruiting results, what habits would create them?

If you want less stress, what habits would eliminate it?

Most coaches know what they want.

Fewer coaches are willing to identify the habits required to get there.

That's where the gap starts between good coaches vs great coaches.

Here's the formula:

Decide what you want.

Identify the habits required to get it.

Accept the tradeoffs.

Do the work.

Repeat.

That's it.

No hack.

No secret.

No shortcut.

Just a coach becoming the type of person capable of creating the results they want.

Here's your challenge this week:

Write down one result you want by the end of the year.

Then ask yourself:

"What habit would make that result almost inevitable?"

Start there.

Because winning the day isn't really about managing time.

It's about becoming the coach your goals require.

Your Coach,

P.S. Most coaches focus on outcomes. High-performing coaches focus on habits. One creates hope. The other creates results.
