The 2nd Shift That Made The Difference

Jan 29, 2026

Hey coach,

Last week I told you about the coach who stopped winging it.

He made one simple shift as he went through my Recruiting Made Simple program and got 1:1 coaching from me:

Instread of falling back into his old habit of staring his day by opening his email, he asked,
“What do I want to move forward today?”

That one question changed how he started his day.

But here’s what happened next.

After a few weeks, he told me:

“My days feel better… but recruiting still feels heavy.”

He wasn’t behind.

He wasn’t inactive.

But recruiting still lived in his head.

And that’s when we realized it was time to insert his next operating system.

He had improved how he started his day —
but he hadn’t yet installed a Recruiting Operating System.

Here’s what that looked like before:

He checked recruiting emails and texts constantly.
Follow-up was inconsistent.
He talked to whoever popped up first.
He felt like he was spending a lot of time on recruiting… but not progressing it.

Sound familiar?

Now here’s what changed.

Instead of asking,
“Who emailed me?”

He started asking,
“Who needs to move to the next mile marker this week?”

That small shift changed everything.

Recruiting stopped being reactive.
It became intentional.

Instead of 40 random touches,
he made 8 focused moves.

And those 8 moves actually mattered.

He wasn’t busier or work more hours.

He was clearer.  He was intentional.

As a result, he finished his recruiting class 3 months earlier that the year before.

That’s leverage.

This is where most coaches stay stuck.

They think to get better recruiting results means they need to put in more time and effort.

What they really need is a clearer system.

When recruiting has structure:

  • You know who matters most.

  • You know what the next step is.

  • You stop carrying everything mentally.

And when that mental load drops, your confidence rises.

You stop feeling behind.

You start operating.

Here’s your action for this week:

Take 10 minutes.

Write down your top 10 recruits.

Next to each name, write one thing:

What is their next mile marker?

Not five steps.
Just the next one.

That’s it.

That one exercise installs more leverage than another hour in your inbox ever will.

Winning the day doesn’t happen by accident.

It happens when you stop reacting
and start building simple systems that support you.

More soon,
— Mandy

P.S. The coaches who feel calm during recruiting season aren’t lucky. They’ve installed structure. I’m building something around helping coaches do exactly that. If this resonates, you’ll want to see what’s coming.
