Success Loves Speed & Delay Kills Dreams
Oct 06, 2025
Hey Coach,
If you caught last week’s Busy Coach newsletter, you know we’re walking through the article I shared — “10 Success Mindset Shifts Every Coach Needs.”
I’m breaking each one down because most coaches don’t need more motivation — they need better systems and sharper habits that actually work in real life.
Today’s mindset shift hits hard: Success loves speed, and delay kills dreams.
The Problem
Coaches aren’t failing because they don’t care.
They’re failing because their days are packed, their plates are full, and it’s easy to tell yourself, “I’ll get to it later.”
I used to do that all the time.
I’d say, “I’ll call that recruit tomorrow.”
“I’ll deal with that tough conversation at some point this week.”
“I’ll try to change that once things slow down.”
But here’s the truth: things never really slow down, do they?
Tomorrow turned into next week.
Next week turned into next month.
And opportunities slipped away.
Every year I missed out on great recruits because I waited too long to follow up or didn’t ask for commitments soon enough and another coach beat me to it.
After many painful years of self-inflicted wounds, it finally clicked for me: the coaches who win big aren’t the ones who wait—they’re the ones who move.
Why this matters for you:
- Recruits won’t wait around for you.
- Your athletes won’t magically improve if you avoid the tough talk.
- Your family won’t get more of you if you keep saying “later.”
Waiting rarely wins.
Speed creates momentum.
Momentum creates results.
The Plan
Here’s a quick Busy Coach system I still use today — I call it the 24-Hour Rule:
When something matters, take one meaningful action toward it within 24 hours.
Doesn’t have to be perfect. Doesn’t have to be big. Just move.
Because speed builds confidence. And confidence creates wins.
The Vision
Imagine ending the day knowing you didn’t just react — you led.
You called that recruit.
You had that conversation.
You took one bold step instead of waiting for “later.”
You feel lighter, more in control, and your athletes can feel it too. They see a coach who’s confident, clear, and decisive.
That’s who you become when you start choosing now over someday.
Every coach loses ground when they delay. Tomorrow turns into next week, and next week into another season gone by.
Don’t let the opportunities sitting in front of you right now slip through your fingers.
Your Action Step This Week
- Write down one thing you’ve been putting off.
- Ask yourself: What will it cost me if I wait another week?
- Take one small action toward it within 24 hours.
That’s it. The 24-Hour Rule. One step, one win.
It doesn’t have to be big. Just move. Speed builds confidence, and confidence creates wins.
Coaching is full of moving parts. You can’t afford to sit on opportunities.
You’re already working hard, Coach. My goal with Busy Coach is to help you work smarter — to give you tools that help you win the day without losing your sanity.
The faster you act, the more ground you gain.
So… what’s the one thing you’ve been waiting on that you’ll do today?
Win the day,
Mandy
