7 Questions to Help You Recruit Better the 2nd half of 2025
Jul 09, 2025
Hey Coach… here we are.
The first half of 2025 is gone.
We blinked, it’s over. Just like that.
And now the big question: Are you on track to hit your recruiting goals this year?
- Are you landing the caliber of recruits your program needs?
- Are you building the foundation for next season’s success?
Or… are you spinning your wheels, overwhelmed, behind, or stuck in survival mode?
Whether your recruiting your next class is off to a slow start…
Or you’re doing well but want to take it to another level…
These 7 questions will give you the clarity, focus, and new ideas to help you become a better, more productive recruiter so you can hit your big goals in the second half of 2025.
7 Questions to Boost Your Recruiting Fast
Ok, there’s actually more than 7 questions…
It’s more like 7 main areas with multiple subquestions.
But these 7 core areas will help you identify gaps, simplify your system, and position your program as a top choice for the right recruits.
Print this out, sit down with your coaching staff, and work through them:
- What does YOUR ideal coaching day look like?
- What do you want your daily schedule to look like?
- How many hours do you want to spend on recruiting vs. coaching?
- Do you want to be constantly reactive… or in control with a system?
- Are you building a program that grows every year… or just filling spots to survive the season?
- Who is your ideal recruit?
You can’t waste time chasing the wrong prospects.
- Can they realistically contribute at your level?
- Are they academically and financially a good fit?
- Do they align with your culture and expectations?
- What are their biggest fears, frustrations, and goals?
- Are their parents bought in?
- Will they help your program grow — on the field, in the classroom, and through referrals?
The more you know about your ideal recruit, the faster and more efficiently you’ll fill your roster with the RIGHT athletes because you can get to NO sooner.
- How will you position your program?
You don’t want to be just another option — you want to be the obvious choice.
- What makes your program different?
- What unique advantages do you offer (development, facilities, relationships, opportunity)?
- Where can you stand out — and where should you NOT try to compete?
- Are you clearly communicating your story to recruits and parents?
- What do your best recruits and current players say about why they chose you?
Recruits have options — your job is to own your space in the recruiting landscape.
- What is the “Job to Be Done” of your program?
Recruits (and parents) aren’t just buying an education — they’re investing in a future.
- What 2-3 results would your ideal recruit pay ANY price to achieve?
- Starting time?
- Personal development?
- Championship experience?
- Academic and career support?
- How would your program look if you delivered at an elite, next-level standard?
- Are you positioning your program to help them get those results faster and better than the competition?
- What is the right offer for your top recruits?
Not all offers are created equal — the way you present your opportunity matters.
- How can you make your offer stand out?
- What parts of your program lead to long-term retention and success?
- Are you handling objections before they come up (cost, location, competition)?
- What stories, testimonials, or examples can you use to build belief?
- How do you create urgency and excitement when you make an offer?
- How can you validate your recruiting process quickly?
Recruiting is a system — but systems only work when they’re tested and improved.
- Are your emails, texts, and calls getting responses?
- How often and when are you getting ghosted — and how can you fix that?
- Where are your best recruits hearing about you (camps, tournaments, referrals)?
- Are your campus visits converting prospects into commits?
- What’s working now — and what needs to be simplified, automated, or eliminated?
- What does your recruiting system look like?
If your recruiting feels overwhelming… it’s probably because your system is unclear.
- Are your processes documented, repeatable, and efficient?
- Do you know your key recruiting numbers (contacts, responses, visits, commitments)?
- Are you using templates, automation, and scheduling to save time?
- How can you make your system more personal and more productive — without adding hours to your day?
Look — recruiting success doesn’t happen by accident.
The best coaches, the ones building consistent, winning programs…
They’re constantly asking better questions.
They’re refining their system.
They’re simplifying their process.
They’re positioning their program as the best option for the right recruits.
These 7 areas are your roadmap.
